Kanazu Forest of Creation
Kanazu Forest of Creation is a place where people can exchange information and feel and experience the joy of creating artistic productions while in contact with nature. The main facility, Art Core, is designed for exhibitions and presentations of various artistic productions.Visitors can try craft making at the glass atelier, pottery studio, and batik studio by the forest.

Echizen Historical Costume Parade, Fukui Spring Festival
The Echizen Historical Costume Parade of Fukui / Spring Festival is held every April. People dressed up as of important figures and feudal warlords in Fukui’s history such as Yoshisada Nitta, Yoshikage Asakura, Katsuie Shibata, Hideyasu Yuki, Shungaku Matsudaira, and Lady O-Ichi, parade in the central area of Fukui. The feudal warlords are dressed in armor and ladies are dressed in beautiful kimonos. This gorgeous parade itself is like a “real-life” historical picture scroll.

The Mikuni Festival is famous as one of the three biggest festivals in Hokuriku. Many visitors come to see this festival, especially on May 20th, when floats bearing warrior dolls as high as 6m parade through the streets of Mikuni. The streets around Mikuni Shrine are lined with old-fashioned attraction tents and many open-air stalls called "Yatai" and "Roten", helping the tourists to feel the prosperity and the spirit of harbor town Mikuni. Echizen Country Club
A flat hillside course with each hole completely separated. Winner of the Environment Minister’s Prize in a choice of ?100 Best Golf Courses?. Out: A “manly” course with several long-distance holes. The eighth hole (par 5) has a pond on the left side extending to the central point for lots of challenge! In: Each hole has its own “flavor,” requiring a carefully planned attack. There are many plants and trees on the course, supplying beautiful scenery in any season.

Echizen Bamboo Doll Village
As well as the traditional bamboo dolls made from long-jointed bamboo, mousou bamboo, and so on, many masterpieces of bamboo dolls or bamboo-made artifacts that use No, Kyogen, or Kabuki as their base are displayed. The facility includes a workshop where visitors can not only see the delicate work of local craftsmen but also experience bamboo work and doll making. There is also a Bamboo doll museum and museum shop.

This event depicts the travels of Rennyo Shonin. The believers of the religion walk relaying a ‘Mikoshi’ or portable shrine, which contains a picture of Rennyo Shonin inside, from Kyoto to Yoshizaki where people holding Japanese lanterns welcome them. This is the biggest traditional event in Yoshizaki and makes the town very busy with lots of worshippers visiting. This reminds us of the prosperity of this town in days gone by.

Maruoka Cherry Blossom Festival
Maruoka Castle (nationally important cultural property) was constructed in 1576 by Shibata Katsutomi, the nephew of Shibata Katsuie. This donjon structure, with two walls and three levels, is a watchtower donjon that functioned as a residence for the lord. It is the oldest structure of its kind in Japan. In spring, some 400 Someiyoshino cherry trees bloom in all their glory under the castle, which is listed under the 100 most beautiful cherry-blossom viewing sites in Japan. They lend additional beauty to the castle, which is also known as the Kasumi ga Jō (Mist Castle) due to the legend that whenever an enemy approaches the castle, a thick mist appears and hides it.

Fukui International Country Club
These “champion courses” of the Hokuriku Region comprise three courses and 27 holes (Tojinbo, Echizen-Misaki, Kuzuryu) spreading over a hilly region with a view of the Hakusan Mountain Range. The course layout is rich in variations, requiring brains and tactics for a most enjoyable game!

Fukui International Country Club
The green is big, with an average area of 900 square meters, so that club selection varies greatly according to pin position. The course features American-made lightweight two-seater carts, making it the first course in the Hokuriku Region to allow golfers to enter the fairway on carts.

Awara Kitagata Lakeside Iris Festival
The Iris garden in Kitagata lakeside is one of the most prominent in the country with 300 species and 500 thousand plants that bloom in splendor from the ending of May for about one month. There is an Iris festival from the ending of June and lively crowds gather for boat tours around the lake and the sale of iris plants.

Daianzenji Temple was established in 1658 by Mitsumichi Matsudaira, the 4th lord of the Fukui domain. It was built for the Zen-master Daigu, who is one of the high priests at the time. The temple belongs to the Myoshinji branch of the Rinzai School of Zen Buddhism and also known as the Fukui domain’s family temple. It is said that the temple has kept its appearance unchanged since it was built. The temple’s rear gate wears the crests of hollyhock, the Tokugawa family’s crest.
